Yet there are no contacts to the guys from stackoverflow. But I think we should come up with a prototype which is capable to show its usefulness before.

Regarding your idea of integration into existing platforms and wiki-style:
You may check:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/Recommenders/Proposal#Scope

point 5 as well as one of the last slides here:

http://www.slideshare.net/Microbiotic/eclipse-indigo-democamp-walldorf-2011

which describe in little more detail what is planned. It should be pretty simple to build a "stacktrace query" engine on top of that.

I imagine a Wiki with stack traces as "page names" and solutions/comments as page text.Aaron Digullahttp://blog.pdark.de/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1479535086136999079.post-68313894986643774182011-05-31T07:57:29.311+02:002011-05-31T07:57:29.311+02:00If nearly everybody hits this error wouldn't i...If nearly everybody hits this error wouldn't it be better to refactor your API or implementation to remove this common Pitfall instead of making an other tool nobody will know?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1479535086136999079.post-84704154240719749292011-05-30T08:12:14.676+02:002011-05-30T08:12:14.676+02:00The forum software upgrade seems to be challenging...The forum software upgrade seems to be challenging... You can find my initial code in https://github.com/pasemes/buggenome/tree/devmatcher

I have already implemented what I've called the "stacktrace parser" which identifies the stack lines and persists it in a mongodb instance. Currently, I'm working on the "matcher" which is responsible for identifying similar stacks. I'm planning to have a web interface that will work like a forum just like you have exposed. Also, I've thought about having IDE's plugins, like the Eclipse one you have described, but I was thinking to implement only a web interface for pasting stacktraces and a web API for communicating with the IDE's plugins later.

I didn't know about the stacktrace detectors in the bugzilla and jira, maybe because I'm more used to Trac :-(, but I'll take a look.

I would be really glad to participate or be involved in this initiative. I was implementing all alone, so I don't have much documentation (besides the tests). Also, I'm implementing it in Scala, I don't know if you would be interested. Anyway, we can talk about this if you want.Paulo Sérgio Medeiroshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14058476943024124842noreply@blogger.com
